Where are you located? Passiflora caerulea might work. Depending upon how bad the winters are here in 7a VA the vines may die back to the roots. This winter they didn't. They will spread a bit, but they are easy enough to pull, and the flowers are beautiful.

Passiflora incarnata is another option, though I find them to be more on the invasive side. They will spring up everywhere, but weeding them out works for me.

I've decided to stick with morning glories again this year. I just bought several varieties to give some different color. I did however give this consideration as well as the clamatis.

How about sweet peas or hyacinth beans?
