Lighting for a U-shaped kitchen

I'd like opinions on where light fixtures should go in a typical small U-shaped kitchen.

First, here's the layout -- imagine bay window /counter height over the sink:

Something similar to these:

I found some wonderful colorful glass pendants, and I'm thinking about how many /where. I've been studying pix of this layout ... and I see different things:

- All flush-with-ceiling lights

- Flush lights over the sink and pendants over the peninsula

- Flush lights over the sink and a large pendant over the sink

Any hints on what works best?

I do plan to have wall cabinet at the end of the pendant (where my above example is showing a microwave and wine). I'm thinking this means I should skip pendants over the peninsula?

I want good task lighting over the sink and the peninsula.

I want undercounter lighting on the cabinet run with the refrigerator, but I see that as a separate issue.

Thanks for any thoughts you may have.
