It's starting!

My roses are slowly starting to bloom. They were all planted this year or last.

PJPII cheater bloom, came from the nursery with big fat buds and this is the first that opened:

Two Walking on Sunshine with an Abraham Darby. WoS was a clearance rescue from a big box last year that was near death but once nursed back to health was blooming constantly. Sadly it's a blackspot magnet here even though I spray for that.

Winchester Cathedral looking a little greenish this morning.

Twilight Zone is covered in buds. I wish it were easier to get the color right in pictures. It's such a gorgeous deep purple. I love the scent on it too.

This is a yellow mini that was in the ground when we bought the house barely alive in the shade in crappy soil. I moved it and realized it was a climbing mini (I didn't even know there were such things!). It seems to be very happy here.

With some peonies that surprised me by blooming their second year in the ground. I'm growing some clematis around it too.

Abraham Darby Glamour Shot (90's flashback!)

Belinda's Dream is covered in blooms but I wasn't aggressive enough with my pruning earlier in the Spring (I guess?!) and her limbs are sprawling all over the ground. Live and learn.

Your peony is splendid with the mini climber. The echo of yellow in its stamens makes the two look like they were made for each other. Nice job!

Great roses. I have several Abe showing color but sooooo slow to open. Twilight Zone is new to me this year and your comments on it sound like I'm going to love it. Thanks for sharing!! Judy

Thanks, Irisgal. just luck. I planted them there before the rose and completely forgot which ones I put where. Total n00b here. They both seem very happy there though.

Prettypetals, it's a lovely rose even though it's not pink (I've noticed you have a fondness for those).

Beautiful blooms. My favorite shot is the one of your yellow mini and the peonies. Yellow and white just bring happy feeling. Helen

Yes that's true I love pinks but also love peach, purples and creams. I just have more pinks. Glad to hear it's not pink since I ordered it for a purple. Lol

Carding Mill starting to open.

First Crush I rescued from Lowe's clearance racks.

And one stem of my Winchester Cathedral seems to have reverted back to its original pink (Mary Rose I think?). Fun!

Lovely pictures, Dan! Love your bush shot of Twilight Zone, I haven't been able to get a very good one, yours looks great. Love the combination of Belinda's Dream and the irises in the background, so pretty together! All of your roses look great!

Thanks, TZ never seems to want to come out the right color but that one was fairly close. It was really pretty this year. Can't wait to see it get bigger.
