We are in the early stages of a master and guest bathroom renovation (in the selection phase). The contractor insists on the final payment being 5% of the total. After trying to find out the range of payments out there, it seems to be 10% to even 25% for the final payment. I want to be fair, but I can't seem to find credible references to only withholding 5% payment at the end. Any input would be welcome.
