Wow. Way jealous. I spent $6K on my Hickory Chair sofa, went to the boutique store in Wellesley, MA, that sells HC, made sure I loved the cushions (I did) that they were what I wanted, etc.

Sofa frame is great, but the cushion was absolutely awful from day 1, nothing at all like what I experienced in the store, and neither the store nor HC would do anything about it. I was furious, esp. after spending that kind of money on a sofa and doing everything on my part to make sure I was making a smart decision. I'll never buy HC again, needless to say, and I never got an explanation as to why the store's cushions were so much different, and better, than the one I got.

Good for C&B. Right thing to do, which seems so difficult for so many, individuals and businesses, now.

Awesome! We just bought a CB sectional in February. I hate the thought that the fabric didn't wear well but am glad their customer service was so great! We are extremely pleased with the sofa so far.

We had good luck with C&B as well. We got a dresser (guest bedroom) and an end table (FR) from C&B a few years ago. Both had minor issues on delivery (dresser top had a finish issue, end table wobbled). Replacements were sent out, no problem, and they allowed us to keep and use the defective items until the replacements arrived. Delivery company deserves kudos, too. They were great, too if I recall.

About 20 years ago we ordered 2 outdoor rockers with matching table from C&B. There was something wrong with one of the rockers and they sent a replacement (free of charge) telling us to keep the original. Dh took it apart and built a small table from the pieces.

I'm glad to hear Crate & Barrel's good service runs beyond our local outlet store in Kittery, ME. I thought we were just lucky with the manager and staff who always go over & above to serve.

I bought new down cushions for a window bench recently and the cashier noticed a small pull on the fabric I hadn't seen. She called a clerk over immediately and had her check stock out back to get me a better one. This was at an outlet on a busy weekend. These days I rarely get that kind of attention when paying full price on large purchases at other retail stores.

just want to add another kudo for C&B service...i purchased a sofa (manufacturer was Lee) and the workmanship was poor and the color was not the same as the sample...i had absolutely no problem with C&B making it right....they took back the sofa....ultimately i ended up with a Bassett sofa, but i fully intend to purchase bedroom furniture from C&B....great service like they gave deserves to be rewarded!

I was hoping to order Lee Industries slipcovered sofas from Crate and Barrel when we move into our new home. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they have a Crate and Barrel store near Nashville, or even in Tennessee.

Does anyone know if they charge more for shipping furniture if there's no local store in the area?

I'm going to really miss browsing through the store for my dishware and glassware. Also love getting gifts there for birthdays, weddings, and Christmas, since they box everything up so nicely.
