How to do return wall with thick window?

Hello,
I have premium Geldwen (3 and 7/8 inch thickness). My stud is 2*4 so basically window thickness is the same as stud size. Is that still possible to do drywall return to the windows/no trim? If yes, how?

Thanks so much.

    Hello,

Your jamb is essentially the same thickness as the stud + plywood sheathing @ the exterior - presuming you are using that. There are a few ways to do this -- one is to use a Fry reglet, sort of like a corner bead - "L" shaped - and have one leg cut into the jamb ( Fry has diagrams of something like this for trim less interior doors) and the other is to use a small piece of wood trim that it just about flush with the sheetrock and have it tapered back to receive the taping of the sheetrock and then mud over the wood/sheetrock, sand and paint. A good finish carpenter would be able to look at these options with you and help you decide which of these - and or some other option - would work best.

    Best of luck,

    Cathy
