A quart is a smaller size container - somewhat akin to a 4". The .75 gallon would be a larger size very close (obviously) to a gallon.

The color on the barberries are usually very consistent and vivid. Monrovia is a reputable company and their research is solid. I wouldn't have any qualms about their claims for the plant. The various aurea varieties I've seen are quite impressive and hold their color well. Do be aware they lose their leaves in the winter so you won't have any foliage for part of the year.

Monrovia gets a little creative with their container sizes :-) A ".75 gallon" container is a standard nursery trade gallon.....which holds about .75 of a gallon. And that's roughly 2.5 times the volume of a quart container.

Just an FYI, but Japanese barberries are considered a invasive species in OH.

they grow fast enough.. that i would buy the cheapest one i could buy ...
