Looking for an induction range

last modified: 10 years ago

Hi all, I have purchased a new build and am looking for advice on which induction range to purchase - is Miele worth the money? Are there any new ones worth checking out? As far as I've seen there are a few options but not a whole lot (which actually helps with the decision making process). I've read some threads about the Miele vs Viking and at this point I've narrowed it down to Jenn Air, GE Profile, Bosch, Kitchenaid - haven't seen many many reviews on the F & P or Whirlpool or Dacor. Miele is likely out of my budget (not sure of the actual cost in Canada but I assume it's quite expensive as Miele had a price increase due to the low dollar) as I live in Canada and am a first time home buyer. Thanks!

ive got the miele inducton range. i got a deal on it because i got it from the outlet (mieleunboxed). btw, im in toronto.

if you're wondering the price of the ranges have not increased. I did notice that the fridge prices have but the ranges are still at the same prices in canada as they were when initially introduced in 2015. cdn prices are way higher than US prices though.

my wife loves it. induction is great. we were using a single induction burner prior so its wayyy better than that.

the moisture plus works great for bread.. gives it a nice crust. there was a leaking issue but that was the delivers/installer's fault not ours. there is a drip tray that was missing.

i am afraid of all the electronics though..rather im afraid of what it would cost to fix even though i did get an extended warranty.

it was a pita to install. i find all miele product are a pita to install. i had to upgrade electrical (50 amp), it has a waterline that required plumbing updates and the location of the socket was also a pain.

in canada, miele's got the best reliability/warranty in the business but isnt cheap. Is it worth it? probably not.. im sure you could get an induction range for 1/5 the price that will cook as quick though it'd probably not have the steaming capabilities in the oven.

if you're looking at wolf/gaggenau, then consider miele. otherwise, dont.

It is rarely mentioned as many prefer the high end brands, but I've had a Kenmore Elite cooktop from Sears for about 10 years with zero issues. They may now have a range.

Thanks g5spark for the intel. I'm curious to know if the oven on the Miele could be used as a steam oven? I noticed it does not have a warming drawer and was wondering if you think that's a big con. At this point the Bosch benchmark is more realistic for my price point. But I can't help wishing it had knobs like the Miele. By the way the Miele goes for $10,000 in Canada. Lucky for you that you found it at the outlet! I'm in Ottawa and we don't normally get such events.
