Well Lol I'm not sure how to take that, but I'm glad you have @ least checked out my project, I did take on quite a project and seeking a wise Builders counsel is always wise and it can be foolish not to for sure.

Ironwood I was thinking as i sanded the ceiling the past hour "you need big shoulders to do this" I see your pic. you look like a big guy, you and guys like Norm who help people on here and I'm sure are reputable great designers and builders, I do give you props. for helping people freely on here and making a living doing custom work for people and even for holding your tongue as you watch my project and probably say to yourself "what in the world is this guy doing? lol but not to boast i drive a big dumptruck on all this massive construction jobs for the past 20years, and have helped build steel poles barns and operate heavy equipment and pull engines out of semi trucks so what i'm saying is i may be above average in some skills and i don 't want to encourage people to take down walls that could be supporting or build a custom tile shower themselves on the second floor and cause catastrophic damage to their house when it leaks, but want to encourage people that there are things they can do beyond decorating and paint and i'm trying to be honest @ my discussion and tell people it is hard work ,so anyway i hope you can respect me also and know i'm not really trying to step on respectable builders toes. ok man and thanks for being respectful and viewing my discussion

I don't like to threadjack, but a reply to hr101 is in order. I started watching your progress from the very beginning. The goal was evident with your set deadline (OMG!). Each of your posts was a revelation of problem solving and adaptability...but the overall plan was evident. I try to respect each and every thread poster here, regardless of experience or skill, it is, as far as I am concerned, a basic human right. When I see a problem that my experience and skill can help with...if only to quote the 7 P's,, I weigh in (unless I'm just too dang tired). I do admit to frustration with advice givers that give inappropriate and/or bad information. I am sure I am guilty of it too, so all must be taken with a grain of salt. You did not need me. The whirlwind of your activity needed to run without me sticking my oar in. Good job and best of luck with the wedding!

Just be careful of all those hanging electric wires and dust and etc debris in your uncovered pots, pans and kitchen items. Good luck

Well Waynewest you certainly opened it up, as long as that wasn't a supporting wall,i see the open concept your going for.

All is good. Not a supporting wall. All the hanging wires have no power. I had plastic seperating the rooms during demo and cleaned so Kitchen could still be used. Now that I have the open concept, my original floor plan for the island didn't seemed finished at the end facing the family room. I didn't know if I should add a bar height cabinet at the end with glass doors to showcase items or add a stand alone cabinet on the kitchen side with bar height on the family room side and utilize as a buffett. If I do the latter, I think the island would be too large with two dishwashers and would need to relocated one of them.

4x8 island if it will fit with dishwasher(s)under it, i like a bar height cab. with glass myself just me though, you need to decide whats practical for your family

do I run the hardwood flooring under the cabinets or around them? I've been getting different views.
