I have not had a hoya for many years, I use to have a jungle in my home, of everything I could fit in the door. This Forum is going to drive me into the poor house, but I am enjoying the experience of learning/reminding/and longing for more Hoya and more info. Please forgive my question, I try to never do this. Can someone tell me what EA is. I am sure it's a dumb question, but it is driving me crazy. Thanks. I am loving reading, all!

Laurie, EA is shirt for Exotic Angels, they and Costa Farms produce a lot of the big box store plants. Think that they under the same company umbrella, but I see their Hoyas most often around here at Lowes. I only see carnosa "Krimson Queen", and standard carnosa locally, at least so far. Not that I mind, my favorite local shop often has tons of really nice sized hoyas. I got a kerrii and javanica from them, and today they had the Krimsom Queen, as well as temptingly large and healthy specimens of obovata amd pink silver. Fortunately I have all those already and was able to resist.

Is the 'Krimson Queen' you are talking about also called 'Tri-color'? I think KQ is an old trade name, or something like that.

Anyway. Is the variegation on the outsides?

It sure is! And yes, KQ is an old trade name. I may have to start calling it "tricolor", I like that name better. I find this one around here a lot, I could probably send you a cutting or two if you wanted to trade.

I have seen one of these in an 8inch pot at lowe's in the next town over from me last weekend, so they are selling it. And its was labeled as "tri-color".

Yes, i ve seen a lot of the rubras also. In fact, that was the only the second time i have seen tricolor. I got one over a year ago in a six inch pot at walmart from costa farms and they were only like $5.88.
