Gosan Sunproof

Was more like 'Gosan Coldproof' the last couple of days. These pics were taken on the 27th, it really hung in there. I'll add a new pic or two in the morning. It's a lot more leafed out than in these pics.

I know I'm a hostaholic when I hear snow is coming to Colorado and I think, oh no, Don's hostas, lol. ...Then I remember I have a niece in Denver who is also dealing with it. How much snow did you get? It sounds like your Gosan Sun (and Cold) proof came through it fine.

Not much snow here the last few days, but temperatures touching on 30-32F all around the area. Everything (almost) is looking really good, though. It's above freezing now, and should stay there into the sunrise. So: A-OK!

Those are tough plants putting up with the cold. GS is very nice!

Yes indeed, Jo, it's looking like it's bigger by far than last year. Temperature update: My backyard thermometer is reading 31F, so that's never good. What IS good is that the sun is coming up. Hang in there, perennials...

This is a pic from May 28, 2015. Deep Blue Sea and Luna Moth. I remember Luna Moth had about 20 eyes last year, Deep Blue Sea had 3. Luna Moth has 46 eyes this season, and Deep Blue Sea has TEN. : )

Leapin' Lizards! Check that --- I meant Leapin' Hostas! :D

Don, I am thrilled with every photo you post! If I feel that good about it, I wonder how you are able to contain yourself? Really love the stretch of the leaves on DBS - I have seen a mature one at Giboshihill Hostas...it was gorgeous and humongous and the leaves get rounder with age. Wish they would stay the shape of yours!

I got Gosan Sunproof last fall. I saw it when I toured Mocs garden in October 2014. October, south Alabama and it looked like it had just unfurled, not a blemish on it. That is a tough hosta, Don.

Are "Gosan" hostas from Geo Schmid? The father of The Genus Hosta tome?

He had that striped one that I have never seen anywhere except on an old HGTV program when he took a TV crew thru his garden. He is the #1 authority on hostas, IMHO. Oh Dear, I may have to make more room.

    Babka, "don't block the exits" +1 ;-)

Jo- We may have to make some more exits. (!)

I like the creeping jenny with those. That chartreuse color really sets off the blue and green of the two hostas. Luna Moth is on my list from last year. I agree with myself on that one. Ha!

Beautiful specimen....your Gosan Sunproof looks better than the Lib. pics.

Babka, yes indeed, it's a Schmid hosta. The striped one you saw must be Gosan Line Up (Just looked at it in The Library.)

    'Gosan Sunproof' comes off brilliant.
