Wood and marble would go together. Having said that-I feel you're limited in your use of wood like tile(which I love) if you'll have laminate right next to it. It will look strange. Unless you plan very well in advance and think of some sort of a nice separation between the two so it all looks considered.

Does your builder specify that you have to use the same cabinets/granite for the bathroom, as for the kitchen?

It's important to know..this granite for example might boss you around quite a bit. In terms of colors etc.

(Builder choices tend to be cookie cutter..which can be more or less easily taken care of later, with styling, personalizing, etc.)

Check it, yes. Because otherwise whatever you'll use-should play nicely with this granite. It's still a lot-I see some cream, gold, dark brown..

I think you should go on Houzz and look at examples of master baths you like. You need to narrow down the look you want.

I think you can blend styles. Since your kitchen is more traditional, maybe your bathroom can be more your husbands style. What vanity are you using in the master bath? Is it the same cabinets as the kitchen? We have a more traditional kitchen with a "marble" porcelain shower in progress now in our master.
