We are in same situation as you in looking for a modern alcove tub. After a lot of time on the internet looking at tub reviews, Americast Cambridge (porcelin over steel) and American Standard Studio (acrylic) seem to stand out. Our installer indicated that there is big difference in quality (thickness) of acrylics. Also we are considering Maax Rubix but have seem some bad reviews on it. We would probably choose the Cambridge, but it just does not look modern. Please post and let us know what you decide. Thanks! Chris

I use Maax a lot and my clients love them I also find the prices fair I have installed the Rubrix 2 times and have had no issues.I do not like steel tubs at all IMO they look cheap as for cleaning acrylic if you use a bit od dishsoap and a microfiber cloth that is all you need.

Did you buy the Jacuzzi linea tub? I just got this tub and am wondering about the quality. It is going to be delivered and installed in a couple of days. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

No, we haven't bought a tub yet as our bath remodel project got delayed. Let us know how the Linea works out for you. We do have a 15 year old Jacuzzi that we love. Best of luck!

Ended up getting Linea. It came in perfect condition. We love the look, but we are still in the middle of reno, so haven't used it yet! We are very happy with the quality & the look.

We decided on the Maax Rubix 60x32 alcove tub. Very modern. It seems very solid for an acrylic as it is coated with fiberglass underneath. We chose the Maax over the cast iron Bellwether and acrylic Jacuzzi Linea. No problems with installation or with tub!

I also looked at the kohler bellwether and memoirs for cast iron replacement. I have a 60 yr old cast iron now. Contractor recommended Maax or duravit for acrylic because the kohler tend to be narrow inside . My husband liked the feel of the Maax as he was able to stretch out just wondering how it will hold up to daily baths since he takes one everyday and also wondering if they installed yours with a mortar bed? I just can't convince myself on acrylic vs cast iron except that we won't be able to get the soaking depth on a cast iron because of the 60x 30 or 32 restriction we are working with

We are very satisfied with the Maax Rubix 60x32 tub. It is modern, it is very large for either showering or bathing! Its smooth bottom has not been an issue. It was installed with a mortar be and with ledger boards. The Maax technical service folks told us that the mortar bed is not required but our contractor did it anyway. Nice looking tub.

Just had the rubix installed and even though I insisted on a mortar bed doesn’t apear it was done and It creaks quite a bit when stepping in it. It’s not secured yet so will have to dicusss with the contractor why it wasn’t done when they said they would , I would highly suggest mortar even though it’s not mandated in the directions

Maax Rubix. Very happy with it. Lots of compliments! After showering, there is water on the ledge that we have to wipe off, but not a problem for us.

I’m considering the 60 X 32 Jacuzzi Linea or the Maax Rubix (18” height) or possibly the Kohler Underscore. I was planning on the Linea, but have read some bad reviews about quality. For those of you that have it- any thoughts? I like the water depth of 17”, which is why I’m leaning that way.
Has anyone had issues with slipping in the Maax? Lastly, how comfortable is the Maax Rubix to lay down and bathe? Is it too straight backed? Thanks in advance!

The maxx Rubix is very comfortable to lay down in and not too slippery .

We did get the deeper one. Also, extremely easy to clean.

Just make sure that they fully support the bottom of any acrylic tub you buy with mortar piles .

Same questions as above, considering a Maax Rubix, Jacuzzi Linea or a Hydrosystems tub. Maax super comfortable. Everyone still happy with choice?

Yes love the Maax just make sure the installer gives good support underneath with mortar piles . Mine didn’t and when my husband takes a bath the caulk seperates.

@chris2000kc still happy with the Maax Rubix? Looking to purchase, but concerend about durability. (7 people showering in it on a daily basis).

I have had my maax rubix for 4 years ! its a great tub and has held up well its just that my contractor did not support the bottom as he said he would and I have separation of the caulk where tub meets wall when my husband takes a bath and tub full of water. I wanted this tub supported properly since my husband does take a bath every day.

Other than that only have to be careful using epsom salts because can cause etching if not cleaned up. Its so easy to clean, i just use clorox wipe and little bit of dish soap.
