More First Season Blooms--moderns

last modified: 10 years ago

Got some lovely modern shrubs and, I believe, one hybrid tea in bloom right now. Watch out, however--a few iris will probably sneak in also. They get jealous when the roses get so much attention.

Double Knock Out and some un-named blue iris that have been growing on this property for over 30 years!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Berolina--the only hybrid tea in bloom--well, with one bloom.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Easter Basket (floribunda) with purple petunia to the left in the planter. Easter Basket is usually one of my very first to bloom each year.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pompenella (Kordes shrub) with the pink blooms at the ends of her long arms on the left, Popcorn Gourmet (white mini) at her feet, yellow pansies next to her, and part of Double Knock Out (red) on the right. If you squint closely at the top of the tall pillar, you can see a couple pale pastel yellowish white blooms up there of Austin's The Pilgrim.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Purple Iris--very ruffly; un-named.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well Being (shrub)--I love this gold shining out of a somewhat shady and neglected corner of my yard. This is a wonderful bush.

Not sure why my other hybrid teas haven't opened yet. I took some pics of my Braveheart shrub which is gloriously open, but they didn't turn out well. If I can get a better one tomorrow, I'll add it here. I also have three Eutins that are just barely opening. Maybe they will be making enough of a show by tomorrow that I can also take pics of them and post them here.

Oh, and my Eden climber isn't open yet either. Someone has such a beautiful one on another thread here. I'm so envious!

That's all for now.

Kate
