My uncle gave me seeds for Long Keeper tomato. I'll confess, I haven't grown it yet. From what I understand from him, the variety he gave me, is a red tomato, a smaller beefsteak. I don't know if it is det. or indet. He had one sitting on his kitchen counter for 3 months! Still a happy edible tomato after that three months too!!

Grew it 2-3 times several years back. Wasn't impressed with the fruit. Thick skinned, hard, little flavor.

I had the exact same experience as Dave. The fruit would keep forever but so will a lump of coal. They both had similar texture and flavor in my opinion. I grew them one year and decided they were not for me.

The one listed in Tatainas data base is the the original Burpee's Long Keeper. They do have a long shelf life, but flavor is less than a supermarket tomato in January.
