I am deeply saddened by the loss of Kenneth but know that his life has been such a struggle in recent years.

My recollection of Kenneth will be that he always had a smile on his face and he always seemed so genuinely happy to see each of his friends. He had an encyclopedia for a brain when it comes to gardening, and was always happy to share his knowledge and experience. Take all that and add his disarming, child-like "approach-ability", if that makes sense.

Kenneth you'll be missed, but I bet they grow something on the "other side" that you didn't know existed ;-D

For Kenneth - iris "Starring".

He not only knew and could identify plants most of us never heard of, but he was also a geologist. It was interesting to get him to identify different rocks and tell how they are created. Driving him to plant swaps twice a year I got to hear all his stories about doing his graduate research in the Sinai and searching for - and finding - fossils in lots of different places. He was a unique fellow.

I have been asked about the address to send cards to his sister. It's Betty Quinn, 1209 Central Ave., Gadsden, AL 35904. There will be a memorial service Tuesday morning.

Kenneth Quinn Guest Book

Memorial services for Mr. Kenneth Quinn, 69, of Gadsden,
will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Twelfth Street Baptist Church. The family
will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service time on Tuesday at the
church. As per his wishes, he will be cremated. Mr. Quinn passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016.

Kenneth was a graduate of both the University of Alabama and Oklahoma State
University. He was a retired geological librarian. He is credited with
discovering the remains of a Mosasaur skeleton while working as a highway
geologist for the University of Nebraska State Museum. Kenneth had a deep love
for plants and was an active member of Master Gardeners and the Sierra Club. He
was also a member of MENSA, a world-wide high IQ society made up of only the
upper two percent of the population. He had a deep knowledge of all things.

Kenneth was preceded
in death by his parents, Elmus and Ann Quinn.
He is survived by his sister, Betty Quinn of Gadsden.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses
of the SICU unit at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

We will all miss Kenneth's contributions to this forum. He was definitely one-of-a-kind. I had no idea he was a geologist!

although we never met, I'm sure I would have liked knowing him after reading these comments and the newspaper article. I am a rock collector myself and love to dig and plant. he will obviously be missed by those who knew him and called him a friend.
