This is a pepper, I put DE all over and around it and a copper collar.

Diatomaceous Earth, DE, is not really meant to be sprinkled on plants. It is supposed to be sprinkled on the soil so the target critters have to crawl over it to reach the plant.

Slug control requires using multiple methods ranging from traps (saucers of stale beer) to spraying the [plants with cold caffeinated coffee to changing the habitat to discourage them. Perhaps this article may be of some help.
