They should lay the tiles out before installing to prevent such a thin piece at the wall. Did they just start in a corner with a full tile and just go with it?

It's going to look a whole lot better when grouted. Let's say the wall is 10 feet 2 inches in length. You're going to have to have at least one short piece somewhere.

Seems like that's what they did. I would have thought they would have planned it too.

I don't mind it. Normally, floor tiles start in the center of the room and work outward, so sometimes this happens. Not a disaster, and not correctable without pulling up a bunch of tiles.

I think they could have done a better job. It looks like the wall at the left of your photo got a full tile, no cuts. Then in the middle of the layout there is a partial wall, and there's an awkward cut with a thin strip of tile going past the partial wall. Then you got that thin strip at the shower entry. It looks to me like they should have moved the tile layout over to avoid such a narrow strip of tile at the partial wall and along the wall on the right where the shower is.

When I do tile, I create a tile map and go over it with the installer because thin strips of tile anywhere looks awkward. I'm a designer though, so extra particular about these things.
