Soapstone seam issue

last modified: 10 years ago

We ordered soapstone counters and were assured there would one seam at the sink. I asked in writing that it was noted that one seam was the condition of the project happening. They show up with a seam at the sink AND as the corner. The slab was 111 inches and the if they did it the way they promised, the longest piece would have been 102 inches from the mid sink to the wall. They claimed they have to put a seam at all corners. The corner is small L shape with 11 inches. I called around and have been told this is bogus. I didn't let them install them and they won't budge on insisting a seam has to go there. I have it in writing that we didn't want to do the project unless we had one seam at the sink or we could have went elsewhere. I attached the template - so at $135/sq ft installed - there was plenty of material. Our slab was 111 by 68 I believe. My question is does there have to be a seam in all corners or mine for that matter?
