Kitchen floor help

Need suggestions on what to use for our kitchen floor. We are Remodeling the kitchen, putting in white( slightly off white actually) cabinets, Soapstone counters with walnut butchers block on the island. Wall color and back splash color are undecided, but will likely feature grey in some way. We definitely have a preference for cool tones vs warm.

When I look at pictures of kitchens online, I'm always most attracted to ones with wood floors, but I'm not sure we can make wood work in our kitchen because of what's going on elsewhere. The Kitchen has an adjacent dining nook featuring these reclaimed floors. Removing them is not an option.

Around the corner from the nook, the Kitchen Will open up into the dining room, which has these floors

the Wall between the Kitchen and dining room shown in the picture is coming down. I've also included a pic of the current floor transition from Kitchen to dining room.

The dining room floors Will also not be removed but Will be refinished.

Super high end specialty solutions are not in the budget for us, we're doing a home renovation loan, so we have a number of things that must be accomplished and a finite budget.

Is there a way to get wood in the Kitchen without it looking strange? Or do we have to stick with tile? And if so, what's a good choice?
