I noticed last year that I saw hummers in the wild honeysuckle bushes around May 6, but so far hadn't seen any activity at the feeder. But this morning, doing weekend kitchen work, had 6 visits in two hours.

So confident and self assured, that says to me they've been at the feeders, unnoticed, before this.
