Need advice about temperature and Ipomoea Batatas with tomatoes

I have a raised veggie planter (it's called a VegTrug) and am about to plant tomato seedlings into the planter. I started them indoors in March (I live on Long Island, NY). Temps at night this week will not be going lower than 53 or so, I hope the tomatoes will survive those temps. Also, I was reading that sweet potato vines (Ipomoea Batatas) (I have the green and the purple) are toxic if ingested. Until I read that, I had been thinking of putting them in the VegTrug along with the tomatoes, some rosemary, basil and strawberries. I am willfully giving away my newbie status with the following question: Will the toxicity of the vines get into the other veggies and make me ill by eating the tomatoes and other veggies? Thanks!
