Teal or white backsplash?

I am unable to nail down a vision for my kitchen. Here's what I know for certain:
-red countertop stays
-gray vinyl plank throughout
-keep all existing wood trim

I was originally thinking of white subway tile for the backsplash, but have been having trouble finding a way to bring more color in. I have considered painting the wall above the cabinets or the ceiling turquoise. At work, there's a nice turquoise backsplash that I thought would also work.

One thing I want to keep in mind is potential resell value down the line.

Any thoughts? I have included mock-ups of the two tile scenarios as well as what my kitchen looks like right now.

And would you consider changing out the red? Just for resale sake like you mentioned- that could open up more options for color

It might be best to clarify as SJ was asking above, but here is a design of ours that might help if you decide to go with white. Maybe also adding in a rug will help?

We are going to resurface or reface the existing cabinets. I just want to get rid of that yellow. I don't like painting over wood so it would be something with grain showing.

The red countertops are something I really loved when we bought the place. It's bold and unconventional, like me. I am going to put a metal edging on it. I know I'm limiting myself, but it really calls to me. And that is something I could replace later, since I'm not doing anything to it now. I don't want to have to redo the cabinets or backsplash (wall paint is fine as that needs regular touchups anyway).

My husband hates rugs, and a rug like that would cover up the beautiful floor in this small kitchen :( At most, we might have a mat in front of the sink.

Not exactly sure what your style is, or if you wanted to go darker with cabinets, but I saw these options to try incorporating red counters- also a backsplash idea- gray flows nice with red.

I do really like the dark cabinets, but I wonder how that would look next to the windows. Right now I'm thinking about having them stained to a dark walnut (previous thought was a medium walnut, but I think a darker color would go better with the floor), which is more so being dictated by the other rooms. Would the window disappear, compete with, or complement dark cabinets?

I love the red counters, but hate the light teal backsplash with them. If you are bold, I would go with a fun encaustic tile (well sealed) that plays up the red.

If it's a choice between the turquoise and white, I'd pick turquoise. But I have to say; I really like the gray.

White or grey. The red countertop is a very bold color, so I think a more neutral backsplash would work best. You can incorporate more color into your kitchen to match your personality by adding curtains or a valance over your windows.

I don't like curtains but that is a good point, I forgot about the window coverings. We are doing cellular shades in all windows. I could do the color there. The counter seems likely if it is the only color.

I will also look into encaustic tiles (and see if my husband is brave enough - he goes with my boldness to a point ^__^)
