It doesn't work via the same methods as glyphosate (RoundUp) does so the approach and application is different. And it will not necessarily give a 100% kill rate as a stronger, listed herbicide would so repeated applications are necessary.

The acid in the vinegar desiccates the foliage causing it to die, but it is not transported down into the plant roots. And so with many types of weeds, especially perennial ones, they just grow back. It needs to be applied in full sun and while the plants are in active growth. And the stronger the solution, the better the results. Table vinegar is only about 5% acetic acid - look for horticultural vinegar (not available everywhere) that has a concentration of about 20-30%. That is a pretty caustic acid at that strength so be sure to use eye protection and cover up!!

It is also a non-specific herbicide so has the potential to damage anything it touches.
