Weston is top-notch. I have not worked with their landscape designers but would assume you could have a discussion about what they could design for you; costs; I'm sure they can install it all for you or plan it so you can do some yourself -- hold your breath because its all really expensive. There are also independent landscape designers out there, who could draw up a design as well as oversee installation if you wanted. Have fun!

One problem I've found with Landscape Design types is a lot of them look at plants from a purely artistic standpoint...without thinking of what grows well where or ecological considerations.

If you are in Metro West, I highly recommend you check out

Garden in the Woods...they sell native plants and are a great source for hard to find natives. Also look into your county soil conservation district. Neither is as "full service" as you are envisioning.

If you are interested getting help with landscape design using native plants, there is Native New England Landscapes, Inc. I've never used them myself.

I also suggest you check out the Arnold Arboretum to see what mature specimens of plants you are considering look like in your climate.

Don't know how familiar you are with suburbia, but you will have chipmunks, squirrels (they chew on stuff, kayaks, holiday lights etc.), woodchuck, turkeys, coyotes, fox, deer, maybe black bear (they raid bird feeders), rabbits, etc. as gardening challenges. Voles will eat off the roots of tons of stuff during the winter. This is not to dissuade you but to encourage designer to consider the realities (and design fence, etc. appropriately). Esp. For vegetable gardens.
