First, congratulations on a jaw-droppingly beautiful house! I'd like to know how you built the wood fireplace mantel and surround. Are those 1" solid planks? What is the species? We have been planning to build a fireplace surround with the modern basics heath tile and had been struggling with how to handle the corner/side and mantel, as well as the hearth-- until we saw this.
