We recently removed an old wood burning stove and are not sure what to do with this area. We are thinking we should install gas logs but not sure about the design. We would like a mantel and perhaps some shelves on each side. Also, we would like to have some of the brick left exposed especially at the top. Several people have come over and looked at it including some designers but everyone seems to be stumped. It is like the elephant in the room and almost looks like a stage. We do not want to remove the brick on the floor because it would be hard to match up the original hardwood floors. Any help would be appreciated.
