Countertop Ideas Needed

My wife and I are stuck on a countertop decision. We have installed Decora cabinets painted Chantille
(top photo) for the larger section of the kitchen; and Angora (grey-ish) for
the pantry and refrigerator cabinet.
Floor is Georgetown Bone. Bottom picture are Quartz countertop samples,
the one on the left is Q from MSI / Antico Cloud, and the right is Daltile / Snow
Leopard. We like both, thinking that the
Antico Cloud gave us a complimentary look without blending too much with the
floor and cabinets; but we also like the Snow Leopard but can’t figure out if
it’s too much of a blend.

So I would like to know if you prefer one or the other countertop
selections pictured – or no? Any
suggestions – I would really like to find a granite but wife seems to want quartz? And with either, what would you recommend for
a backsplash? Would you carry a 2x2”
Georgetown Bone backsplash to match the floor - especially if I can settle on a darker countertop?

Thank you.

I think quartz is a good choice because it looks similar to granite but is easier to maintain. It would help to have a photo of the countertop samples against the floor tile.

No to the idea of matching the backsplash tile to the floor tile. That's a very bathroom thing to do.

Match the backsplash to the counters. White subway would look great with either sample above.

I prefer the Antico Cloud (on the left). I think it picks out the tones from your flooring and the darker grey from the cabinet by the fridge.
For your back-splash - I think you would be better to match this to your bench-top. If you went with the Antico Cloud, a white back-splash would look fab. Maybe a white mosaic to get some texture and sparkle in there, or if you wanted to go plain, just the white subway would work well too.

Going with the darker color for the counters will make it more of a focal point, the lighter color from Dal will keep everything light and bright. Both granite and quartz are durable countertop material, I think it's a personal preference whether or not you like the consistency of color & pattern of a quartz or the natural variation of granite.

I would agree with not using the same color from the floor tile on the backsplash, I think the patterning could compete with the countertops. If you want something clean and classic, subway tile works and there's a lot variations on the subway tile out there besides just the basic white. I would also recommend a solid color or tone on tone glass.

Love the quartz. It is in our new kitchen after 20 years of granite. I prefer the lighter quartz as you will have a fresher cleaner look. That said, you might consider using a color like Cambria Devon on the perimeter counters (a warm gray solid) with either of your quartz choices on the island. That will provide visual resting places and the opportunity for the island to be the focus.

I would select the one on right and pair it with classic white subway tile backsplash. If you would like a little more color in the backsplash, could choose a grout similar to the darker spots in the countertop.

Photo below has 2x12 white dal-tile with gray grout.
