Recent Spring Blooms

Much of the first spring blooms are gone now but the photos live on! Hope you enjoy!

Tahitian Sunset - the very first bloom of this new rose, lighter in color than subsequent blooms.

Koko Loco - another new rose, really love the brownish lavender color

Mitsouko - new from Palatine, fragrance is very slight but a lovely rose

Chris Evert - with the morning sun on her, she's extra bright

Love Song - another new rose with a light, pleasing fragrance

Olivia Rose Austin - still a baby but doing well, lots of buds

Claire Austin survived a transplant to a new spot. She's a good bloomer for me.

Jude the Obscure - third spring and finally taking off. He was barely a foot tall six months ago but is now close to four feet. He had a first bloom of seven flowers. I only had two or three flowers the whole of last year.

JTO again, love the scent and delicacy

One more photo - I'm really happy this rose is finally growing!

I hope I see a bloom this year on my 2 yr. old Jude. Yours is drop dead gorgeous. Olivia Rose Austin is a very pretty bloom. I wonder if this rose will woo people away from Heritage?

Irisgal - Don't give up on JTO, it might take off yet. Mine was a tiny band from Heirloom that was partly stunted by our drought. I've also concluded that own root JTOs are very slow to develop roots. It's interesting that you mentioned Heritage. I just bought Heritage this spring at Regan Nursery and I'm totally in love with it. My Heritage is white and a pinky coral and quite tall, while Olivia is a silvery pink and might be compact. Love both!

Such lovely roses, Ann. Your Austins are especially nice and I love your Olivia Rose Austin. Mine is about 1 ft. tall and has formed its very first bud--I'm so excited and hope it will be as lovely as yours.

    And JTO is wonderful!

Thanks Kate! I'm sure you'll be having lots of Olivia roses soon and look forward to seeing the photos.

Sharlene and Towandaaz --Just wanted to share another photo of Koko Loco that I took at the nursery I bought my rose from. This photo was from a tree standard and shows the Milk Chocolate and Lavender blooms together. Yes it's a bit funky but I really like it!

Had to have another peak. You excelled with Koco Loco pics. I saw a bed of these in full spring flush and it was gorgeous.

My 'Heritage' (Austin) looks like your Olivia. In fact I would have mis-identified. Maybe slightly more cupped bloom but color very close.

Own root Jude! So that's why it's taking forever.

Hi Carol - My Koko has a light fragrance, maybe a 2 on the 1-5 scale? I love it enough that light fragrance is ok. Thanks for your kind comments on my photos!

A 2 level sounds like my Queen of Sweden and a few others. So I have done it...but I'm still looking for more fragrance. Thanks for the info!

    Stunning, stunning Koko Loko!!
