I'm going to be no help but I though some response would be nice. Both choices and your location and Winter plan sound good. I grow Musa Basjoo that I managed not to kill in my PA garage this Winter though I did kill off the Abyssinian. If you purchased one or both of these please share why and how it/they are doing. I haven't gotten one yet due to recent bad weather, but I really want one. im trying to figure out which is more disease resistant, because I live in a tidal marsh on the south shore of Long Island (relative humidity averages about 70% for the entire year) and fungus can be an issue. I may just wind up getting both and seeing what does better. maybe ill try the one you mentioned :)

Disease resistance probably would not be too big of a concern because the primarily concerns banana specific diseases in the tropics.

Both bananas will probably take multiple years to fruit and be little more than a novelty. Also since bananas pup, after a couple of years you may be able to keep a rotation of fruiting bananas.

As for the Musa Basjoo, it doesnt produce edible fruit but it can be grown outdoors as a perennial.
