You haven't said anything about temperature. Temperature is the single most important factor in how fast things grow. Wouldn't hurt to say something about what stuff they're growing in either, or even what plants they are. A swift kick would give them a pretty good jolt, but without knowing what you're doing, I can't suggest anything that would work better.

And how much/how often are you watering? What potting mix? Have you fertilized?

i have them on a heat mat, in the house about 70 degrees in a garden window. i usually use regular potting soil but this year i used hoffman organic seed starting medium. i usually put spaghum moss drench in chamomile tea to avoid damping off. but couldn't find the moss this year. i fertilized with shulz liquid fertilizer.

i really think this growing medium is inferior.

What is "them"? Peppers grow slowly as seedlings, and seem to take forever to germinate. Root vegetables take a while too. What is "slow pace"? How big are they, and how long did they take to get that size?

If they're in a 70F house, there is no need to have them on a heat mat. Be careful about heat mats. You can heat up the soil too much with them.

little slow. the house is over 70 degrees but theyre near the window and during the day i do open them for ventilation but not for long.

Is your only source of light the window?

Low light won't slow them down. They'll just get leggy fast. Still wondering what you define as "slow".

no they have plenty of light. from plant bulbs.

Mark, you should've said that you are talking about pepper seedlings. This is Tomato forum so we assumed that being the case: tomatoes.

An we don't know yet how old your seedling are and how big/small they are.

Big and small are relative concept. Reminds me of Gulliver's Travels.
