Open to any Ideas on my Kitchen

Posting for a friend. I am ready to give my galley kitchen (25'x10') a new fresh look. I have ordered new flooring which will be a tile look that is med to dark browns, tans, and greys. I do not want to paint my cupboards again. Been there done that. My cupboards are a med tan now. Eventually I would like to put in granite countertops. I love the large clock that you see and would like to incorporate it into my new kitchen decor. On the north wall there is the frig, sm counter space, stove, and then 3 doorways. There are 2 small windows and then a med-sized double wide window. I do not know what to use for window coverings!
Please if you have ANY suggestions on paint, window coverings, light fixtures, or decor PLEASE leave your ideas. I would love to hear your creativeness! I can't wait!

Hi wstdspace & friend. Do you want the decor to stay on the traditional side or are you looking for a more modern look?

I would say more traditional maybe even ever so slightly Tuscan....

I would get rid of the flush mount lights and put in recessed lights. Overall, I think you have a lot to work with and are off to a nice start. Good luck and let us know if you need any lighting help!

Keep coming with the ideas! I love reading them and you all have such great suggestions! Yes, we have been looking at different lighting. I love the semi flush mounted drum lights. Recessed lights would be even better, I just dont know how extensive she wants to be torn up. Robinson thank you for the excellent input! We are going to consider your every option!

I would take the clock, a drawer front and the flooring sample to a fabric store such as Calico Corners and see what takes my fancy. Take lots of photos there, bring home a few small samples. Looks like she will need less than five yards of new 54-inch wide fabric to make new curtains or shades. Take the new paint color from the fabric print.

New lighting is a good idea.

I would paint a lighter color in the kitchen..walls and soffit and maybe even door ..if not a full view door would look great. I also would replace the light fixture and ceiling fan ..of course new countertops, backsplash, flooring and stainless appliances would top it off. I would go with some kind of shades if privacy is an issue. If not maybe solid color valances with a print of your liking with a new area rug. I would also update your hardware on cabinets. Maybe just a runner instead of the three rugs. Good luck!

The clock you like, and the curtains seem to have more of a colonial vibe, which probably doesn't tie in with Tuscan. If you keep the clock your color palette is pretty set. I like the dark blue walls, but the yellow that goes with the flooring seems off. For colonial the floors should be wood. If your on a budget there is vinyl wood look flooring, that can pass for wood, from a distance.

I would add a long gel runner to the floor (no tripping!). Look at Ballard Design for ideas. New track light fixture for the kitchen and new fan. There is room for a round table under the fan.

Pcmom1- that would be me tripping on the rugs ..lol...A small round table would look great if there is room..but it looks as if there is a table in the next room..is that where you eat ? If so maybe open up that wall if possible..just a thought.. :)

Nice! Wow such great ideas! The actual dining table is in the next room. Was wondering about a very small bistro table with 2 stools under the ceiling fan. Liking the idea of a runner. The yellow floor is being replaced with vinyl-like tile in tan, grey, and brown and is fairly dark so liking the idea of lighter walls. New track light is another GREAT idea! New cupboard handles to update! Wow! Can't wait!
