I'm visiting this part of GardenWeb specifically to see if anyone else has one of these plants that has bloomed. I could not believe my eyes when I saw a bloom stalk on the plant I bought a few months ago to fill a cool copper coal scuttle from a thrift store. The bloom stalk on mine has a tiny clear sticky droplet on each petal, which I hope is to attract bees and not a sign of an infestation.

However, I am shocked at your suggestions of trading pollen, etc. These sorts of arranged marriages, or dalliances perhaps, are not appropriate for discussion on a family forum!

I'm so glad you found kindred flora in this forum, fillmoe. Awesome people post here so it is worth a visit at least.

The problem is, the definition of "family forum" has radically changed in the 21st century. Borrowing pollen from a fellow enthusiast living across the country to make babies is not just exciting, it's positively brilliant! Haven't you ever heard of artificial insemination??

How did you get this to happen? Is it a houseplant? Is it root bound? I see you can buy sans seeds online. Has anyone tried starting from seed? That sounds like a lesson in extreme patience based on how mine grow at houseplants, but maybe it's easier if you live in a place where you can grow sans year-round outside...?

I didn't do anything to it other than give it light and water. I did put it in a cooler sunroom earlier this year, in April, but other than that just typical windowsill culture. I live in zone 6a, so no year round gardening for my Sans!

i have never tried growing Sans from seed but for me growing them at all is a lesson in patience. Growing from seed would be torture! Lol

Slowly but surely!

Pretty. Does it have a fragrance? One of mine smelled so strongly of jasmine it was overwhelming. I had to put it outside.

Entero, it didn't at first flower but now that they are all open, it's killer fragrant. I have it out on the sun porch and at night the fragrance is intense!!

So beautiful! The flowers are so heavy they would fall if I didn't prop them with the leaves.

Mahvelous dahling! I have 3 large ones that I'm not separating because I want to see if they'll flower. I want one so bad. Pups are cool, but flowering? Ohhh yeah!

It's beautiful. Do you see little beads of nectar along the stem? Fernwood had that, maybe cylindrica too. I don't see it yet on the "thyrsiflora/raffilii" - the buds are kinda bluish - should open any evening now. I read in the Sans Journal a guy changed his thermostat and previously his home was the same temp night & day, when he changed to cooler at night all his sans bloomed so it looks like a cooler season triggers flowering, yes?

Thank you! I did look for those nectar beads, because you mentioned them before, but I see none.

if what you read was a factor, I wonder if putting my sans out early, like in April but in the sunroom, had any effect on them? Very cool nights but very warm days. Maybe that is so. Ill have to do the same next year and see.
