What is this?

I just pulled these bulb plants out of my garden, they look a little like wild onions or something similar to an onion to me. I didn't plant them, but my grandma comes when I'm not home sometimes and messes in my garden and does a little yardwork. So are they a weed, or a plant put the on purpose?
