I'll start the tea thread today!

Today it is raining here the the North East. I just had a cup of coffee, but will have tea later the afternoon.

I plan to do a few errands today. Due to the rain, my dog will not want to go for his usual walk. We will see how how it goes as the day progresses.

What's happening in your part of the world?

Yeah!!! Tea Day! Thank you Eld6161, for hosting!

For the first time in 6-7 weeks we have had measurable rain! Since Sunday night we have received 2 and 1/2 inches of the glorious stuff! Grand Forks had a blast of 110 mph winds Sunday night in a concentrated area. It did a lot of damage there.

I've been slowly setting out a few annuals; the ground in my four well-amended garden areas was powder dry for about 10" down. It's soaking up this rain like a sponge.

Harry has to go to the vet for his yearly shots and exam. Wes is taking off work this afternnoon to take us in. H can't jump up in the CRV on his own anymore and while I could wrestle him in, it's far easier on H if Wes is here.

He's getting old, 13 1/2, but inside his creaky body he's a happy, playful pup. He is my heartbeat. We are the best of buddies!

If ... I get the rest of the waiting plants in the ground - eight cosmos, 10 petunias, one bee balm, three geraniums, one bocapa, four peppers, and four tomatoes - and if ... the pharmacy refills my prescriptions correctly (that would be a first) and if ... I get time to pack a few items, I will be leaving Thursday for a car trip to Arkansas to visit my sweet Mama!

Wes and the pups will stay here. I can't wait! I do wish Harry could come, but he can't travel more than a couple hours now.

    Happy Teas-day Tuesday, everybody!

How 'bout we use a Polish porcelain teapot. It's thin, strong, and beautifully embossed. And yes, it was a thrift store find! I would love to find companion pieces for it.

It's probably from the 1960s. I haven't had time to research it yet. Here's the backstamp.

Thank you for hosting eld6161. I am still in coffee mode too. Was just about to get up and start vacuuming the house but hubby has fallen to sleep after announcing he has a stomach ache. So I really do not want to wake him for the sake of a clean floor. I will go into my studio and do some mosaic quietly.

Caroline that is a Lovely Tea Pot. I love the embossing.

I hope to get pictures of the Fairy garden addition this morning too It is not raining here yet. I will see about rounding up a pretty tea cup while I am at it.

Afternoon all! I haven't had tea yet today but will join you with my lunch. We have been having warm, humid weather lately so I haven't been outside much. Still trying to recover from last weekend's garage sale. Why is it that my house always looks like a cyclone hit when I get ready for a garage sale? Beautiful flowers LL. Are those native there?

    I have to investigate Lupins!

If they grow in Zone 3 I must add some to my hodge-podge gardens. Instead of tip-toeing through the tulips, I could limbo through the Lupins.

    They are beautiful!

LL your Lupines are Gorgeous!! Still drinking coffee. Next up will be tea. Been working in my studio. Just not feeling the yard today. Fortunately hubby is feeling better now. Tummy calmed down after breakfast. He is into his TV shows so it is going to be a total studio day and maybe book kind of day too. I also want to quickly go through the house pulling things for my friends yard sale. I promised to help her do it so I might as well take a few things to get rid of while I am there.

    Hopefully photos coming soon.

Hello everyone! It's afternoon now and I am keeping cool in the house before I have to go out and cut the grass. It is beautiful here, 81º and sunny. Tomorrow it is suppose to rain and the next day and the next day and so on. :) So that is why the grass must be cut today.

But I am happy to report that I have gotten my gnomes a little gazing ball for their yard!! My very kind brother-in-law gave me one of his golf tees and I had a nice marble to go with it and voila!!

It needs to sit overnight for the glue to completely set, so they will get their surprise tomorrow!! I'm so happy with the way it turned out.

Lavender, I love your lupines too!! They look like candles sticking up through the greens!! Very pretty flowers!

Caroline, your teapot is exquisite!! I love the embossing too and just how elegant it looks!! Great find.

    I love the gazing ball!

I was wandering around a junktique shop trying to find "something" to use for a gazing ball stand.

"Golf Tee" never entered my mind, but I did think if I found a chess rook that could be interesting, or a larger pawn with its head cut off?

Of course there were no spare chess rooks to be found - yet! Thank goodness I'm not above stealing your Tee idea, LOL, but I'd kept it a secret.

I spy...a pretty dishtowel and I love your cabinets' color!

Shades, what book are you reading? I'm re-reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. What are your hubby's favorite shows?

Glad I dropped in to check on my special friends here on SH. It rained here all morning with possible strong storms tonight....and every day this week. I have had a super lazy day....in fact, I enjoyed laying in bed listening to the thunder roll and watching some TV. I was going to do some sewing but after fighting with my machine, I gave it up for today....must be something more wrong than I know what to do. I rarely sew any more.....but I did volunteer to make some pillowcase dresses for a friend to take on her mission trip to Belieze.

LL....your flowers are beautiful, as usual....hope things are going great in your world now.

You all take care of yourselves until I stop by again....

I'm into Kool Aid tonight. I'll get here earlier next week! It rained here overnight. The green beans are up. I'll have strawberries in a couple of weeks. I had dug up about a million jonquils, gave most away, planted the rest and seeded it to grass. This is the year I AM going to cut back on the garden. I planted a bunch of peach pits in another part of the garden and will have replacement peach trees in a few years. They only live about 7 years so I'm always replanting. The rabbits got several last winter.

Had to take the truck in for repairs this morning so while I waited I went to city hall and read old, old newspapers. I'm looking for the announcement of my great grandmother's death. I've been looking for years! Last year I ran across great grandfather's two line obit and it sounded like she was still alive then. I will keep looking through the old papers.

I had baked chicken hindquarters when I got home so deboned them and put it in baggies in the freezer.

I have a hundred or more old pictures spread out on my work table. Most of them don't have any identification on the back so I don't know who they are. I have two wonderful group photos that no one knows who they are :-( I have multiple copies of most of my dad's war pictures. I've been scanning them and adding the known ones to my genealogy software program.

Caroline, at your pup's age, he doesn't need any more vaccinations. How many vaccinations do you get every year? I'd bet any amount of money his titers are just fine.

Too funny! I'm still trying to figure out 'titers'?

I got tetanus, flu, and shingles shots last year. :( And a pneumonia shot the year before. Since I'm long out of the Air Force, I've not gotten too many shots - unless we count all the insulin. My poor jelly belly!

Harry still hunts, not as hard, not as long, and not as often as before, but he comes alive when it's time to load up in the truck.

We keep both dogs current on their rabies/parvovirus/distemper boosters and Lyme disease shots. They hunt on the prairie and often meet up with coons, skunks, coyotes and other potential disease carriers. They also have to get the bordotela spray since they occasionally have to go to doggie day care. All dogs staying there must be current on all the meds. We have to register our dogs in town each year and they have to see proof of shots as well.

There's also flea and tick control, and heart worm meds.

The vet is so impressed with Harry's muscle tone and activity level. He did a blood panel; all of his organs are firing on all eight cylinders!

Surprisingly, he did have a UTI. This is the first time this has happened ever. We had no clue and he was not showing any symptoms at all. He's on a good antibiotic so he'll be right as rain in no time.

I wish my own doc was half as thorough, half as concerned, and half as professional as Dr. V. Harry loves to go to the vet; he gets all happy once I turn off the Buffalo Road. He knows where we're going! This has been his only vet inall these years.

Harry, left, and his Great x3 nephew, Sam. Harry says "why do I have to pose with this goof ball?" They were on a half-day camp with Wes.'q

A bit late to the party...

I've been working hard getting the barn wired up so I can get permanent power out there. It seems there is always a lot to do around here! I'm trying to get some more things crossed off of the list before I go back to work (assuming I find a job; no luck yet).

I have a return visit today to the urologist for 'warranty work'; I'm hoping they can fix a problem I've been having since my hernia surgery.

We finally had rain- several inches, so the garden is going nuts. I built a raised bed, and everything looks happy. The sunflowers are 3' tall, the beans and peppers are flowering, and we've already had one harvest of basil. We have an addiction to fresh pesto, so I'm really watching the basil crop!

Your garden sounds so lovely. I have just started setting out plants. I have to finish the petunias, cosmos, and peppers today if I'm going to get to leave tomorrow.

Good luck with your "warranty work!"

In the huge commercial fields around here the corn is about 1 & 1/2 inches tall; it still has the first two seed leaves only. It looks so springish and hopeful.

Caroline, yours boys sure are handsome!! I'm so glad Harry is in such good shape!

Mushcreek, good luck on the job search! I hope you find a good one soon!!

Jay/Mushcreek- I'm sure it's been suggested, but why not write a book (with all your photos) of moving and building your new house? I'm sure it would be a very interesting, informative and enjoyable read : )

I'm planning a book of short stories about many of my adventures throughout life, and of all the interesting people I've known. Building the house would be a big chunk of it! I'm also working on getting the pictures together to make a photo book.

Caroline, I love your dogs! My bil used to have a pointer and my how that dog loved to chase tennis balls.

Jay, I am going to start putting my hands over my eyes when you say there is always something that needs to be done around there. I know our new place is going to need a lot of work too, but I hope it's not as hard and continuous as it is at our current home. So far I've sold all my garden hand tools, hedge clippers, edger, heavy weedeater, wheel barrow, and weeding cart. Next up are the walk behind mower and tiller. If I can't take care of everything with the riding mower and a cordless weedeater, it will need to be paved over with gravel.

My mom picked up so orange spice herbal tea yesterday (yea!) so now I'm drinking my Earl Grey/orange spice tea with Milano cookie! (She got some of those, too.) It's so nice to have mom living with us....especially when she spoils me : )

Today she and I are going (with her garden club) to Northland Rosarium and pick up our roses! We ordered four fairy roses for the garden a few months ago...and we'll probably find a few more roses while we're there. LOL

If anyone is looking for own root roses (that don't freeze and come back as something else) Carol has a beautiful garden and lovely roses!
