Sounds like a cherry tomato. The cluster in your picture looks exactly like a cherry cluster. All the hardware stores sell those.

I agree, looks like a cherry tomato of some sort. Once the a tomato fruit starts changing color that particular fruit will not grow any bigger. Often, though, the first few fruit a plant makes are on the smallish side because the plant was small when the fruit started developing. It's possible that the fruit size will get a little bit larger as the season goes along and the plant grows bigger.

Hope you are wrong! Hubs knows better than to buy a cherry tomato. We dip those in Vodka and salt, and that's about it. These are too big for a cherry.

One inch size? Nope, those are cherries. Even generic cherries are that big. Get out your vodka and salt. Maybe mistagged.

I think they are more like 1 1/4" size. I'm hoping aniajs theory is correct that the plant was small when it set the first fruit, and other fruit may be larger. Most are already as large as these first ones and some larger. Pool guy just caught me checking them out. He said we need heat and they will take off. True. It is still a little chilly outside. I guess I'll just cut em in quarters and dip em in vodka and salt if they don't get any bigger.

Does the vodka-dipping give you any buzz? Just wondering. :)

Might be a bit larger but it'll still be a cherry tomato. I've been burned before buying plants from HD. The tags are just too easy to fall out or get switched around.

@TomatoZesty You'd have to eat a lot to get a buzz, but it's on demand when we entertain. Shot glass with toothpicks. Grab a pic and spear a cherry tomato a few times so it has holes. Soak in Vodka (I just put premium in a Martini glass), now a little dip in Kosher salt (not too much). Enjoy. Dump the used toothpick the container provided for used ones, and repeat. Bloody Mary on a stick.
