I would not use two identical paintings and I'm not sure I would hang the two different pieces together. Framing the picture might give it a bit more presence. My initial thought would be to center the art over your couch and use sconces are either side. Then I'd try a longer, rectangular mirror over your end table.

You can pick very similar paintings (like in a diptych you know? same subject same painter-different details), and put them together next to each other. I wouldn't separate them by anything in that case. But I wouldn't do two identical ones. They have to differ at least ever so slightly..for example photographs or artworks that are identical but printed in different colorways...

Don't settle for anything that just goes and you're not too crazy about it. This feeling usually doesn't change:) Just increases, in my experience. Return the one you don't like that much, put the one you love in a different spot, and continue to look for something that you would love unconditionally over that sofa:)

Cheap sources for art(original and prints)-E Bay, Etsy..you might be pleasantly surprised with choice and prices. Many artists there..

Also-Everything But The House. Bids start from one dollar there..of course if it's fine art it gets really expensive in the end, but some less known, nice, simpler works can be won for real cheap.

Don't rush it, Aim for original. You have a lovely room so take your time. Look in 2nd hand shops, thrifts, check out some Facebook pages where artists sell (you can find deals) , eBay and CL moving sales. Keep an open mind. You might find several smaller and different shapes, non-matching but cool for a sort of gallery wall or one big one, Enjoy the hunt!

Thanks justterrilynn! I completely forgot thrift stores! I've got several around me so I will have to check them out. We are also going on a trip to Key West and there are artists all over the place. Not sure if it will fit in the budget but we will see.. And you are right, I need to slow down and not rush it.

Maybe something like this? Bigger in the middle with two small's on each side.

i would do the bigger one with no frame or minimal frame and do framed but not heavy for the smaller ones. The frames on your pictures are heavy for the room.

You may not be able to go as large for your center as shown above...but you get the idea.

@justterrilynn those are fantastic! I love the idea of a large print like that. Husband not so much, he wants something long. I will show this to him ;)

I agree with the former frames being too thick and dark for this space, I had them there because they were free, When I painted the walls I was so happy to take them down!
