It's a 'Westcot'. What are the eating qualities like?

Westcot should be pretty good, at least one of the better ones for our climate,..I don't have it but think similar to our Edmonton Capilano.

Looks great! Can anyone comment on how often an apricot tree will actually fruit in our climate?

westcot is supposed to be very good quality. How old is your tree

I planted it three years ago. I'm not sure how old the tree was at the time, but it's grown about a third taller in that time. I'd say (without doing a core sample) that it's about 5-8 years old.

This is the first time that It's fruited. The tree flowered heavily last year, but no fruit set even though it had two nanking cherries nearby for pollination; perhaps it was too young. I was worried, as it has a northeast exposure and doesn't receive much direct sunlight.

Another apricot pollinates them the best. Graft to it if you don't have space.

I know they sell and grow westcot in the warm areas of bc where they can grow any apricot. Mine are starting to blush up already I do not think they will survive the hail we are going to get any day now lol

Would be nice to let some hang on the tree till they are ready to explode but I'm not sure Calgary is calm enough for that.

I'm actually in Peace River, 800km north of Calgary.

And looks like westcot are bigger apricots compared to the ones I picked here few years ago these are the same size as those ripened ones and still green. They look like they will be very attractive apricots some are like golf ball sized . We got hit hard with hail today :( suffered some casualties and some of the fruit is marked up but not to bad hopefully these can keep on pushing hard for me. They look like maybe 5-6w eeks I'll start be able to pick them

hail hit hard today but to my surprise maybe because the fruits are still rock hard and they don't bruise so easily or fall off.lost barely anything. found just a few broken off.
