The roots will fatten up in time, Marica. But it may not be what you expect, to wit:

Hello, my 5year old crimson star died out in rains, and the rot happened from both the top and bottom, so couldnot get some branches saved and grafted.

i am looking to replace it, where can I get it? Lots of memories of my mother assoiciated with this, so would like to regrow another one.

You can only get a clone now from Demitt. His shipping can be high. Sorry you lost yours. My Crimson star is slow but even shows some sign of caudex thickening.

Nice, rare find! Good job, Pagan. If you don't like the straight trunks you can bend them - there /are/ ways and I can help with that. Or you may wait a while and cut them down and make them produce new, lower lateral growth. Or you can graft in lower scions as they become available and /after/ they take, cut off the straight trunk. Lots of options.

Three of mine 1.5 yrs rooted.

I would probably hang them to soften the roots to allow you to twist them and then put them back at the same soil level or just leave them alone to keep growing some more at the same soil level. I think they are doing well just slower then seed grown

Yeah, I had these all potted together in a large community pot with not enough soil. I repotted them at same height, but in deeper soil in own pots.
