Lighting design for Dining Room

In the renovated house we will have a 17*13 formal DR. We use this frequently, and it will be furnished rather traditionally. There is a large (6*5 approx) window on one wall. There will be a crystal chandelier, which is rated for 900 watts (60w*15 bulbs), and one 60w sconce, but that's more of an accent piece in an alcove. By any measure the light thrown off by the current fixtures is sufficient for the space, but the plans also call for 4 recessed lights in each corner. Do you think I need these? I'm not sure what value light in a corner of a dining room has, and I'd love to save money (well, transfer it elsewhere in the reno!), but I don't want to end up with a room with poor lighting design.
