these are gorgeous! i have one that looks like 'Tampa Bay', but i IDed as 'Merry Christmas'. how do they differ? i can't find any pics of 'Tampa Bay'...

I had to put it in 'terrarium' though as it started to crisp on edges of leaves.

and i am keeping it in dappled sun, otherwise it looses the bright red color and silvers out. that's my n'th attempt at rexes :(.

Hmmm, they do look similar, that's just what this seller had the plant labeled as, so I'm not sure about differences or if they are the same.

I keep all my rexes grouped together in a north window with a warm mist humidifier underneath them. Ill definitely have to keep my eye on the tampa bay's coloring, because like I said they sit in a southern window.

I definitely killed a few rexes before I really got the right conditions for them, mainly not overwatering but keeping humidity up.

Maybe Ill invest for a light above them, Im sure they would all like it.

i think that only the ones with pink/red coloring need some dappled sun to maintain the reds.

just curious, do you have other intense pink/red ones in northern window? i kept my red in the western window in late spring - with very low sunset light for 2 months - it was still cool outside, so 1 foot away from glass was Ok, not too hot for them. and they absolutely blazed with color - so intense and sparkly! while when they were not getting enough direct sun in march they started silvering out. and they usually say - no direct sun at all! go figure. i am a little more south then you (NYC), so your sun is even weaker then mine.

I do have a almost all red one over there, but I think it's one of the new hardier hybrids because it's quiet happy anyplace I put it, on any watering schedule.

I also have a hugh mclauchlan in the same window which does well too. My collection has slowly started growing (of rexes) I'm sure they would all respond better to a little more light, and since I already dote on them (a warm mist humidifier) I might as well get a little light setup!

now i am curious, how many do you have?
