Sorry, there is nothing you can apply to the clover that won't damage the groundcover as well. Herbicides are unable to distinguish between a broadleaved weed and a more valuable plant.

What kind of plant is your ground cover, and is it in a huge area? There are a few things to try, I have a few ground covers, but have also had failures with them too.

I believe the ground cover is a creeping thyme. It has purple flowers and covers an area about 5 by 6 feet. The clover is the white kind found in yards. It is killing my ground cover. We are in Pennsylvania. I was told I would have to dig the whole section up, put down a weed killer. add new soil, wait a time and then replant. To say the least that would be costly. I originally planted 50 plants which filled in nicely. That was two years ago. I hate to lose them. They are very lovely this time of year.

When I pull it the ground cover comes with it as the clover(?) has long runners for roots. What is oxalis?

Just googled oxalis. It is definitely clover as I looked at that also.

So many plants are called clover. If you are able to add some pics, somebody should recognize it. Agree, that's a very small area you should be able to pull unwanted plants from in just a few minutes.

The common clover found in yards with white flowers is White Dutch Clover and while it may crowd some plants it grows with it will not kill them. White Dutch Clover, like all legumes, can put Nitrogen into the soil which would benefit that ground cover.

There is no good reason to dig the whole area, put down any weed killer, add new soil, and replant.

White Dutch Clover spreads by seeds and stolens so control measures need to include removing all the plant parts and digging them out. Unfortunately White Dutch Clover grows best in the same soils that Creeping Thyme does, neutral soil pH and well endowed with organic matter. "Weed" killers, herbicides, suppress this clover but do not always kill it.
