Skip a nook in favor of a more versatile semi formal multi use dining area. A small house like that cannot realistically support 3 separate eating zones. Skip any banquettes. They are uncomfortable for guests and awkward to get in and out of. Just go visit a few restaurants and be the one in the middle of a corner booth.

Why would you use a very desirable corner location to dedicate to a utility space? Why is the food production zone in the middle of a highway traffic zone? Why is what appears to be the only eating area trapped in such a small space that you can not ever expand the table to seat 10 for a holiday? Why is the cleanup zone the furthest from the eating zone, and then it has those horribly difficult to access and clean box bay windows behind it? Why does the living are have such insufficient space by the time you subtract out the traffic patterns that people need to use to circulate? And why is the circulation through the entire home so poorly thought out?

There are too many issues with this plan. Beyond the nook. You need to be boxing your architect's ears that he would give you such dysfunctional choices.

Just a comment on nook comfort - we have a large banquette that can sit 10 comfortably. We love it. Guests have had no trouble getting in and out - not awkward at all. For those that are less agile, there are 3 regular chairs and the outer sections of the booth where folks can sit if desired.

I would guess that you are not the one who gets stuck in the middle, with the choice of making everyone else move so you can scoooooot over and out. Or else do a dive under and out that is only fun for an 8 year old.

Well, your guess would be wrong (again). I always pick the middle and have never felt "stuck" there. The other great thing about banquettes or bench seating, is that you are able to seat more if needed - especially for casual dinners. On this day, we actually had 14 people at the table (we squeezed in closer for the pic). We had a great time :-)

No one ever needs to pee?

We aren't usually sitting there longer than 2 hours. lol

Looking at that layout I don't see anything particularly clumsy about it. I could navigate it in my chair. Including pulling up to the table in the breakfast nook.

andreamemon - the nook room is 6 x 11.5 and our table is 94" x 38". Here is an older pic I had on my phone.

We had a breakfast nook 8'W, 8'L on long wall, 5.5'L on short wall that we almost never used. W/ our K reno, it's now our pantry and hutch area, and gets used constantly. You have in your sketch an island w/ seating for 4. A breakfast nook seems a redundancy.
