If you want the blue to be the dominant color, try neutrals like browns and tans to add warmth.

Also, did you purchase the ottoman along with the sofa and chairs? If not, a wood coffee table could warm up the space.

I like it; but maybe a bit too much blue. I would add a couple of brownor yellow pillows and remove one of the stripped pillows. without having them be too busy Also add one of those fleece brown, deep yellow couch blankets or an afghan. I would use pillow covers. They are very easy to make; then you just change then in and out according to a new color scheme or with the seasons. ETSY is a good place to find those ready made. The first color I thought of was yellow. Maybe muted or softened, but yellow came to mind... good luck with it.

Thinking the floral design on the sofa, a striped chair and and a navy leather or greenish taupe! Blue is my favorite color, but here the sofa just looks like a safe GLOB!

Get rid of the striped fabric (lose the ones on the sofa and swap out the table for wood or reupholster in orange or yellow). Can you paint? Manhattan Mist (Behr), might be a nice midtone grey or a linen color would also work. Orange or yellow accents.

As far as the rug and curtains in your question, I would suggest an area rug in the taupe or brown family and curtains in a natural color. Pottery Barn sells lined linen panels in a few different shades of neutrals. I would use a wooden or iron rod with rings and drapery hooks to add more sophistication. You did not mention a wall color in your question but, Benjamin Moores "misted green" is very pretty. It is a blue/green and it looks really nice with white trim and earth tones. The colors in the sofa and chair will look great and navy will "pop" against it. Congratulations on your apartment and I am sure you will pull the room together nicely.

A big fluffywhite sheepskin rug (i put two together)p aint the walls a deep mushroom color. Then consider big pictures with just a bit of blue but mostly warm colors like brown and yellow. If you can find some mostly white throws...OK I'm thinking. Blue is strong medicine in decor so don't over dose.

Cover the hassock with matching (chair)paisley to make it look larger black stripe is a discord note.

yellow print throw pillows would really help. a soft green throw to pull the color out of the print fabric on the chair.

Depending on your taste I would but a sisal carpet (gold), grass paper, (gold on feature wall), and hot pink throw and toss cushions and curtains white with a hot pink border. Wood coffee table or depending on space a gold and glass coffee table. White lamps with White Shades and a hot pink ribbon on the shade. Now if there is green in the chair then change out the pink for a bright fresh green that is popular right now. Colour paint for walls a warm light sand colour with Benjamin Moore Cloud White Trim. A Bright Turquoise would really pick up on the turquoise in the chair.

I would go with white or a light to offset the dark sofa.

Hi Rosemarytovar--Style is very personal, but since you posted your room I will assume that you are asking for opinions. I would get rid of the area rug, all the matchy pillows and bring in the yellow you want. I think the current rug and pillows don't do your beautiful furniture justice. The room will look much fresher even if you just replace the rug and get rid of the brown pillow.

And I didn't buy the table from the picture, only the sofa with 2 pillows and the armchair. Now need to find the rug and curtains to give a warm atmosphere :-)

Add some orange/rust accents and a rug which has a woven texture like a "wool sisal" and which has an orange/rust border. Add some lamps which have a woven or wood base. Need some textures in here in addition to a strong color accent such as orange/rust.

Thx Kb love the ideas. I chose the rug for my 10 month old. Once she is older and more sturdy I would love to change the rug and add a coffee table.

These pieces remind me of what the LaZBoy collection has...I would go with a bright lime green to give it an additional punch in lamps like a few have suggested and some accessories but keep the walls neutral...soft wheat/yellow tones. I also think the fabric ottoman as a coffee table is a bit much...especially if your room is small; I would look for something wooden or even a leather tufted ottoman...have fun!

I just recently toured some Very pricey homes. Besides yellow which is my personal fave(your room looks Very similar to my family room) BRIGHT ORANGE seems to be the rage! Once books,girl "stuff" acquired etc...are added to your space, Im sure your apt. will be lovely! P.S. they showed a lot of paisley like you chose! Best of luck in your new home!

I bought them from a local furniture store (I'm from Romania!) but the sofa and the armchair are imported from United States if I'm not mistaken. On the price tag it's written Ashley...so I believe this is the company that produces them. I love them too! :-) Good luck!

Yes you are right. I don't have them yet, I just placed the order and now I'm waiting for them to arrive. In the furniture store the sofa looked more like blue but it's not..

I would stay away from a dark colour like black or navy. As someone who has a navy carpet ( which I actually love), I know that it shows dust worse than a light rug. I like the idea of a soft yellow, perhaps with a subtle pattern if you change the ottoman. I would also make the rug bigger (at least the next size up). I also think dusty greens to pick up the colour in the patterned chair would be nice. Either way, white trim.

I agree with yellow! I Loved the yellow lamp.
I think the orange / yellow comes out in my wood. I still have more to do, of course ;)

I only said yellow INSTEAD of orange because of the gray. Blue and yellow have a long history together in interior design, but yellow and gray is a trend that has been happening for the last 10 years or so. Yellow goes with both blue and gray nicely and although orange looks great with blues, not so much with the gray.
