Good induction cooktops?

Who makes a really good induction cooktop? I've almost got my husband convinced to give up gas and go induction but I want to make sure I get a really good one so he is happy with it. Thanks!

Love my Bosch. Love, love, love it. Installation depths of induction tops vary, but Bosch is very thin, so we have room for a lovely utensil drawer right under it, and two deep drawers inder that. Thermador, I believe, is the more upscale version. More info, and many induction devotees, on the Appliance Forum.

Bosch and Miele. If you Xpost this in Appliances you'll get specific experiences. Congrats.

I've had a moderately priced windcrest for 10 years and still love it. No issues at all.

Miele has been a great performer for me. I especially like the timers for each hob, and that it can be flush mounted into the counter top, sitting on a lower granite lip, and can be easily tilted out for cleaning the joint where cooktop meets granite.

Smiling do you have a photo of what you are referring to with the tilt out cleaning and lower lip?

I also have a Bosch that I love. I think you have to look at specific layout and features. For example, I love the fact that I can "direct select" the power, it has 19 power levels, and the hobs have individual timers. The layout of the hobs works for me. Other people don't like the layout or don't care about direct select, etc..

LOVE my Bosch Benchmark induction cooktop! Makes me a better cook!

Another one who loves the Bosch - I have 800 series.

Are these all just cook tops, or are they available in a range with the oven? I'm saving my pennies for some day. They were too pricey when we bought our conventional range, but I see prices coming down.

    Mush creek,

Each manufacturer has an induction range in their lineup. Most of what is being discussed so far are cooktops. Tons of feedback on the appliance forum on the ranges. The main determiner between manufacturers is the layout of the hob/burners, the controls and the size and function of the ovens.

I own a Miele cooktop and love it.

    Good luck

Bosch 800 (cooktop only), very happy. Individual timers are great. Lightning fast, too fast sometimes- my habit of putting a pot to boil and wandering off to do something has to change. Has some auto cook feature that I still have not tried. Was able to put it over a Wolf oven due to shallow clearance depth, as mentioned above.

My Kitchen Aid is great BUT what I hate about induction is the lack of pans made for it. I can't find a griddle spanning two burners for under $200 anywhere!! So I use a small round cast iron griddle I found at Walmart for $14.00. Hubs makes the pancakes and won't let me buy another round one so we can all eat together. He doesn't want to use two pans for some reason...... Good luck finding pans for your new induction.

Happy 36" Bosch 500 owner here. I went from a crappy Frigidaire-made Kenmore Elite induction to the Bosch. Love that I can adjust power levels with one push of a button. Love the "boost" function. The configuration of the burners, overwhelming positive reviews and the price, compared to Miele, is what sold me.
