Rule of thumb is add the width and length of your room in feet - then convert to inches for the width of your light fixture. So, 13 plus 13 is 26 feet converted is 26 inches in width. Now, you also need to consider your overall ceiling height and the height you are hanging the fixture. If your ceilings are under 10 feet then stick to the rule. If you are hanging this light over a dining table then stick to this rule if the table is at least 16 inches wider or when you stand up you don't knock your head. Hang the bottom of the fixture 24 to 36 inches above the table - modern lower and traditional higher.

Should it be that big for a bedroom? Mine is 11' x 14' and the ceiling is 9'10".

Thank you so much. Do you happen to know how much lighting you need in a room like that? The light I am looking to get has a total of 570 watts. However, 5 are GU10 and 8 are G9 (40 max). Any help you can provide would be great.

Bedroom- Yes but hang much closer the ceiling. Luckily you just need about 6'6" clearance.
