Do the roots and stem look okay (not discolored, smelly or mushy)?

As a last note, depending on the welfare of your plant, I may ask you to cut the plant up entirely, in order to attempt to salvage it...don't panic! I will guide you through it, if it comes to that!

I keep the mother plant out with all my other hoyas, so other than sometimes watering every 4 days (this one needs a bit more water), it does not require special care.

Yes, Aurora I did buy this from you. I love your plants. OK so it was in fine shape when it arrived and I potted it up and just now I went upstairs to take it out of the pot and I saw what the problem was. Them stem was hanging on by just a thread and when I gently poured the contents out of the little cup I had it in, it broke off entirely. So all that misting wasn't ever going to help because it had been cut off from the rooting system. And that seems too soggy to reclaim.

Is there any hope of getting the super dry stem to root again?

BTW, the UT-073 I got in the same order as the EPC 480 is going like gangbusters. Please help me if you can. Thanks in advance.

Ok It's not as bad as I thought. There is about a 3/4 inch piece of healthy root still attached to the stem. I have it soaking in clean water with SuperThrive hoping that will revive it a little.

I'd go ahead and cut it to the node below the first healthy leaf. Less surface area to worry about loss of hydration. I know it seems like a lot of plant to lose, but this one grows fast. Make the cutting, place in pot, water ONCE, then put it in the humidity dome...but mist only once, close the tent and leave it alone for a week. Check it daily, and air out the tent once every 3 days. If that doesn't work, I will re-start another one for you and send it to you, free of cost.

Thanks for your assistance. I did what you explained to the letter. It's back in the tent. I also took the top part, dipped the whole thing in rooting hormone and put it in a tray with just cactus soil and perlite and stuck that in a baggie and misted it. Who knows? It probably won't work but hopefully the other half will come back and I won't have to take you up on your very generous offer to replace it. Thanks again.

You'd be surprised! My cv. Michelle came to me as a cutting and completely defoliated. 4 feet long with three peduncles! It took a month or two, but she grew her leaves back! She has 9 leaves now, but here is what she did look like, with just one leaf, after rooting:
