Your coral honeysuckle vine is outstanding, whatever you're doing keep on doing it. I'll bet hummingbirds have been fighting over it. Unfortunately, no fragrance with this one.

I guess the fastidious gardener (not me) might rake up the spent flowers or cover them with fresh mulch. Do you get berries? Cut them off and you'll get a repeat bloom but not as nice as the first one.

My Lonicera sempervirens 'Major Wheeler' looks quite similar at the moment. I am not sure what your question is. It's normal for the blooms to drop after a while - perhaps you've not noticed before since there were fewer at a time? Or you want to know how to clean them up? It doesn't look to me like there's anything wrong. You clematis looks quite happy as well.

Thank you. I just have never had them drop so fast or so many. Maybe because there are many more blooms than usual that I am seeing more on the ground.

maybe your are just being more observant ... flowering is cyclical over the years ... and length of show is also highly variable ...

why??? .. just about every micro climate variable you can name ... easy winter.. warm spring.. cold spring... drought the year before [go figure on that booming flower production] ..... etc ...

an intense heat wave at bloom time .. can truncate length of bloom ...

i would just leave the spent bloom.. its part of natures way ... they will brown and shrivel and disappear soon enough ...
