I have one that suffered bud loss last year and had given up for dead. I was about to chuck it out of its pot, compost the plant and reuse the soil. Now I see a pale yellowish leaf emerging. It did take a long time but I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Moral of the story, be patient with palms (and cycads for that matter). I have seen this kind of bud loss recovery in other palms too..., including Phoenix dates (probably true of others too).
