Hi Daniel. It would not be difficult to make this look a whole lot better and you could go in either a more traditional or modern theme. Depending on the age of the house it could have originally been Victorian Stick which is a lesser known style with simpler detail than its Queen Anne and Gothic cousins. Definitely worth discovering a plan that is right for your neighborhood and value. Restoring hardiboard details might break the budget, but conceiving of a garage door style, how to deal with face mounted meters and services through old access ways, and what kind of style elements will get you to the look you want. You don't have to go back, I bet S. Randel can help you conceive a long term plan to guide you as you look forward.

If you want colors, look carefully at lots of pictures, and drive the neighborhoods for things you like. The more you know / photos you bring to SR when you go / the faster he can find the right mix for you.

One thing I wanted to point out is that some of your accent / extra colors are set in tile clues at your front door. Bring the terra cotta element in at your sashes as contrast to the white surrounding trim. Consider if lower window and garage want to be called out with contrasting white trim or if they are better in one tone. Start with photos of what you do like and then compare notes. Paint is the least expensive facelift material you will have to work with. Have fun consulting with a pro.
